Transfering the Code Between Hormann Series 2 Hand Transmitters

This is a short video demonstrating how to transfer the code that operates your garage door, from an existing Hormann series 2 (blue button) hand transmitter to a new series 2 hand transmitter. The Hormann series 2 System works on a frequency of 868.3MHz with a 40 bit encryption.

The Hormann Hand transmitters come in 1, 2 and 4 button configurations. Each button can be ‘coded’ for a different device. For example if you have more than one garage door you could code button 1 for the first door and button 2 for the second door. Alternatively you can code buttons for other devices such as outside lighting or electric gates (this would need a compatible receiver fitted). If you only have one electrically operated door you can code all the buttons for the one door.

To code in a new hand transmitter from an existing hand transmitter.

To transfer the code from one hand transmitter to another, the signal strength needs to be very strong. This means the units need to be very close together and have good battery power.

1. First press and hold the button on your existing hand transmitter which has the code you want to transfer.

The led will illuminate constantly. (Please be aware this will activate your device / garage door!)

2. Now press and hold the button on the hand transmitter on which you want to receive the code. The led will flash slowly for a few seconds then flash quickly for a few seconds, and then stop with no illumination.

The code has now been transferred. You can continue this process to transfer the code to different buttons.
